Musical Friends
It's less than a week until the Neutral DVD release party at the Grey Eagle, but there's a couple other events coming up that we wanted to let you know about. Night's Bright Colors, featuring Neutral actor and soundtrack composer Jason Smith, have a new album Late Night by Lamplight available as a free download at their official site. Jason recently appeared on Asheville's 98.1 The River to discuss the new songs and to graciously plug our upcoming shindig, where he'll be performing along with Kovacs and the Polar Bear and Neapolitan Children.
There's also a new solo album out from Kari Sickenberger called Settle Down. Anyone who's seen Neutral will remember Kari's warm, hilarious performance as a coin-and-couplet-tossing patient spouse, but she's has extraordinary success with her Appalachian folk outfit Polecat Creek, who just returned from performing at Merlefest as well as appearing on beloved folk variety program A Prairie Home Companion. Settle Down is Kari's first solo outing, and you can buy it at her website or on CDBaby.com. If you're in the area, she'll be doing her own Grey Eagle release party tonight, Saturday, May 16.
